Carr-Gomm Scotland is a Scottish charity and a company limited by guarantee in Scotland. It is therefore a not-for-profit organisation with a voluntary Board of Directors. Carr-Gomm Scotland became an independent charity in October 2002. Before this it was part of the Carr-Gomm Society. Carr-Gomm Scotland’s approach to support work is to work with people as individuals, not as members of “client groups” – to help them to live in their own homes, to follow their interests and to achieve their ambitions. We do not see people as a list of disabilities or “needs”, but as they see themselves: as individuals with ideas for the future, strengths and weaknesses, just as we see ourselves.
