Housing Issues:
Carr-Gomm Scotland is not a housing association therefore we do not have our own housing to offer people. We do, however, work in partnership with a number of landlords who can help us find an appropriate tenancy for you. As people move on no longer require our support there may be opportunities to move into a vacant tenancy in one of our existing services. Your social worker can also help you to find a tenancy.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I get the service? You can speak to your Social Worker or a family member, friend or advocate. You can approach us at the project. If you are in hospital you can speak to your doctor or nurse. Alternatively you can speak to us yourself and if you wish we can meet with you to tell you about how we can help.
Do I have to pay for the service? Your Social Worker will complete a financial assessment to identify whether or not you make a contribution to the Social Work Department for the services that they purchase on your behalf. You may have to pay for some of your support from your own money. Please do not let this put you off; many people receive the service free of charge or pay a minimum amount.
How do you know we will provide a good service? We choose our workers very carefully and regular checks are done to ensure they are doing their job well. We will ask you and your Social Worker for your views on how good a service we are providing. The Care Commission will inform us if we are getting right and you will be able to read any report that they do. If you are unhappy with our service you are entitled to make a complaint. There is another leaflet which explains how to do this.
Who can help me think about this or speak on my behalf? You may wish to invite important people in your life to assist you and your key-worker in developing your Support Agreement, the role that they have in your life can be included in this document. We aim to work in a person-centred way, which helps you to identify your hopes for the future and plan to make them happen. This means that we will work with people important to you, will have the opportunity to be involved in shaping the service you receive.
What if I have a suggestion or want to make a complaint? Carr-Gomm Scotland have a Suggestions and Complaints Policy and the Leaflet giving information on this is contained in the information pack.
What if I no longer want support or would like another organisation to support me? You should discuss the reasons for your decision with your support worker, social worker, health care professional or family. If, for whatever reason you no longer want support from Carr-Gomm Scotland we can help you in identifying another support provider.
What if my worker cannot
come at the agreed time? We
will contact you and offer you an alternative worker who you know or arrange an
alternative time.
