Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I get the service?
The only way to receive this service is through the Social Work Department, who
has a contract with Carr-Gomm Scotland. Your Social Worker can prepare (with
you) an assessment (CARENAP). This will be used to help identify areas of
your life you may wish to discuss with us, and what you need support for.
Your application will then be put forward to the selection Panel.
You will have opportunities to find out about Carr-Gomm Scotland and how we
would support you and then decide if you want to accept the offer of a service,
if one is made.
Do I have to pay for the service? Your Social Worker will be able to tell you more about this. They will complete a financial assessment and identify whether you will make a financial contribution to the Social Work Department for the services that they purchase on your behalf. Please do not let this put you of as many people receive our service free of charge.
How do you know we will provide a good service? We choose our workers carefully and our managers check they are doing their job well. We will ask you and your Social Worker what you think about the service. The Care Commission will tell us if we are getting it right and you can see what they have written about us. If you are unhappy with our service you can make a complaint. We have another leaflet that tells you how to do this.
What if I no longer want Support? If you decide that you no longer want support, you should discuss the reasons for your decision with your Service Manager, your Social Worker and Family.
What If I would like to have another organisation support me? If, for whatever reason you no longer want support from Carr-Gomm Scotland and would like another organisation, you should discuss this with your Support Worker or the Service Manager. You should also discuss the reasons for your decision with your Social Worker or other Health Care Professional as well as your family. Your support worker can help you identify another support provider.
What can you expect from us? We will always be honest with you. We will treat you with respect. We will listen to what you want. We will support you in the way we say we will.
What we expect from you? We expect that you treat our workers with respect. We would like you to tell us if we are making mistakes. We would like you to be honest with us.
