DUNDEE -SUPPORT SERVICES
What kind of
services can you expect: This
service is for people who are affected by mental health difficulties or who have
learning disabilities. The service aims to offer support and enable people who
have different support needs to live in their own homes.
The Support can be: Flexible and at times that you need it because
support staff are based on site 24 hours a day. Individual because
we aim to support people in their on homes to lead their lives whatever their
reasons for needing support.
We can help you with: staying safe and well ,
taking medication,
managing your money,
making and keeping appointments,
looking after your house,
shopping and cooking,
making friends, trying out new interests,
personal care
and any other part of your life that you need support with.
Housing Issues: Once a tenancy within the project becomes available your Care Manager/Social Worker can put you forward for this vacancy. You will then be part of a selection process, which your Care manager/Social Worker will explain further to you. If you are not working, the cost of your rent will be paid by Housing Benefit.
Frequently Asked Questions:
How Do I Get The Service?
The only way to receive this service is through the Social Work Department, as
Dundee Council has a contract with Carr-Gomm Scotland. If you are receiving
psychiatric services you can contact the Resettlement Group, or you can ask
someone to do that on your behalf. Your Care Manager will then prepare
(with you) an assessment of your support needs. This will be used to help
identify the areas of your life you may wish to discuss with us and what you
need support for.
You will have opportunities to find out about Carr-Gomm Scotland and how we
would support you and then decide if you want to accept the offer of a service,
if one is made.
Throughout this process – and at any time when you are receiving our service you
can have someone with you to put forward your point of view.
Do I Have To Pay For The Service? Your social worker will complete a financial assessment to identify whether or not you make a contribution to the Social Work Department for the services that they purchase on your behalf. This will be in line with the Council’s pricing framework. Please do not let this put you off as many people receive our service free of charge.
What If I No Longer Want Support Or Would Like Another Organisation To Support Me? You should discuss the reasons for your decision with your support worker, social worker, health care professional or family. If for whatever reason you no longer want support from Carr-Gomm Scotland you should discuss this with your Support Worker and Care Manager. You Support Worker can help you in identifying another support provider.
How Do You Know We Will Provide A Good Service? We choose our workers carefully and our Managers check they are doing their job well. We will ask you and your Social Worker what you think about the service. The Care Commission will tell us if we are getting it right and you can see what they have written about us. If you are unhappy with our service you can make a complaint. We have another leaflet explaining how to do this.
What If I Have A Suggestion Or Want To Make A Complaint? Carr-Gomm Scotland has a Suggestions and Complaints Policy and the leaflet giving information on this is contained in the information pack
