Who are we?

Carr-Gomm Scotland is a Scottish charity and a company limited by guarantee in Scotland.  It is therefore a not-for-profit organisation with a voluntary Board of Directors. Carr-Gomm Scotland became an independent charity in October 2002. Prior to this it was part of the Carr-Gomm Society. For more information on the Carr-Gomm Society please go to:

What we stand for

Carr-Gomm Scotland has a distinct identity with its own philosophy, policies, structure, strategy, types of services and job descriptions.  It has linked into the Scottish move to work with a person-centred approach.

Who we work with

Carr-Gomm Scotland supports people with a range of impairments, health problems, disadvantages and different ages.  Carr-Gomm Scotland is able to support people who need very intensive support and also low levels of support, with the flexibility to respond to changing requirements.  The age range of people we support is currently 18 to 98 years.  Co-working with families, social work, health and housing is a key part of our approach, as is supporting people who use our services to develop their own organisations.

• We support people of any age who live with their family or have their own house, who have any disability or illness, or who have other reasons for needing help

We can help with:

• Looking after your house
• Keeping well
• Managing your money
• Making and keeping friends
• Deciding what you want to do with your time and helping you to do it
• Making appointments with other people in your life
• And anything else that means you will be well and happy

Where we work

Carr-Gomm Scotland has established itself in Edinburgh and the Lothians and Renfrewshire.  Services have started in Falkirk, Glasgow, Dundee and new ones will start during the next year in Glasgow.  Once services bed down and participate in local networks, they can grow organically, either by supporting new individuals and incrementally increasing the staff team or by developing new services in that region.
